#15 Buffaloes Complete the Sweep of Oklahoma Christian, 8-5

CANYON, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M finished off Mother's Day Weekend with a 8-5 victory over the Oklahoma Christian Eagles to sweep a Lone Star Conference Championship Opening Round Series at Wilder Park in Canyon.
 
The Eagles started off the scoring in the home half of the first inning as Cole Lee took the first pitch of the frame deep to right for a solo homerun followed later in the frame by a Grant Lake RBI single thru the right side for the 2-0 lead.
 
WT responded in the top of the second as Will Fuenning and Eric Ortiz started off the frame with back-to-back doubles followed later in the inning by an Izaiah Madrid RBI single to right center with one out, Eddy Savoie gave the Buffs a lead with a two-run double to center followed by a Kennedy Badgett sac fly to the warning track in right for the 5-2 lead.
 
The Buffs used the long ball to add to their lead in the top of the sixth inning as Ryan Johnson connected on his ninth long ball of the year with a solo shot to left for the 6-2 advantage. WT added to their lead again in the seventh as Johnson singled to left with two outs and the bases loaded to drive in a pair for the 8-2 lead.
 
The Eagles cut into the lead in the bottom of the frame as Michael DiFiore singled thru the left side with no outs and the bases loaded to drive in a pair, Lake singled up the middle to drive in Chance Westervelt to make it 8-5.
 
Jack Eagan picked up the win (7-2) for the Buffs, allowing two earned runs on six hits with four walks and two strikeouts in his 5.0 innings of work. Reese Miller slammed the door in the final two frames as the sophomore right-hander struck out six and walked one for his sixth save.
 
The Buffs advance to next weekend's Lone Star Conference Championship at Foster Field in San Angelo, Texas as the double-elimination event begins on Thursday evening.
