CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M heads into the Easter Holiday still atop of the Lone Star Conference standings as senior
Kennedy Badgett's ninth-inning walkoff single gave the #5 Buffs a 3-2 victory over the Texas A&M International Dustdevils at Wilder Park in Canyon.
The Dustdevils jumped out to an early lead as Brock Hargens singled thru the right side to drive in Ronnie Bailey before
Bryant Bailey ended the frame by gunning down a run at the plate to keep it at 1-0. TAMIU added to their lead in the fourth as Ariben Gutierrez scored from third on a wild pitch with the bases loaded and two outs for the 2-0 lead.
The Buffs tied it up in the home half of the sixth as Badgett started off the frame with a triple to right center followed by an
Adam Becker two-run bomb over the scoreboard in left to make it 2-2.
WT would walk it off in the bottom of the ninth inning as
Jacob Butler started off the frame with a single up the middle followed by an
Eddy Savoie sacrifice bunt, the Dustdevils would get one out on a fly ball to center before Badgett singled to right center to score Butler for the 3-2 win.
Reese Miller picked up the win (1-0) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on no hits with no walks and no strikeouts during his 0.1 innings of relief.
The Buffs head to Kingsville, Texas next weekend for their final regular season road trip as they take on the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville in a four-game Lone Star Conference series starting on Friday night at Nolan Ryan Field.
