CANYON, Texas – The No. 6 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M moved to 14-7 (3-5 LSC) on the season after they split with No. 18 Angelo State in Lone Star Conference action on Monday afternoon. ASU took hold of a game one with a 10-2 run-rule victory before the Lady Buffs fought back to win 10-8 in the series finale.
The Lady Buffs will return to Schaeffer Park this weekend, March 18-20, when they host Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Friday's doubleheader against the Dustdevils is set for 4 p.m. in Canyon while WT will take on the No. 9 Javelinas at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Angelo State set the tone of game one with a pair of homers in the first inning by Lindsey Evans and Keilei Garcia before Ashylnn Box's single drove in two runs in the second to make it 5-0.
Diana Murtha snapped the shutout when she launched her seventh home run of the season to cut the lead to four. The junior drove the first pitch she faced into deep and over left field to lead off the fourth until the Lady Buffs capitalized on a throwing error to score pinch runner

After a scoreless fifth inning, the Rambelles came out swinging as they used five hits to double the score. Box sent one deep and out to put three on the board before another home run pushed ASU's lead out to seven 9-2. The final run came across on a fielding error to secure the run-rule victory.
Genesis Armendariz (10-3) was rewarded the victory throwing six complete innings allowing two runs (one earned) with seven strikeouts, two walks and one wild pitch.
Heidi Vortherms (7-3) received the loss after allowing five runs (five earned) through 1 1/3 innings on five hits while
Emma Parrish completed the game with a season-high seven strikeouts.
ASU limited the Lady Buffs to six hits led by
Gabriella Valforte who went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Buffs while Murtha recorded the lone RBI.

Game two wrote a different story as the Lady Buffs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first.
Madison Johnson landed on second with a throwing error from the mound before she came across the plate on a double by
Brittni Rufus to bring
Ruby Salzman to the plate. The junior centerfielder launched her 42
nd career home run into left field to give WT the lead.
The Rambelles quickly answered with a pair of runs to bring the game within one before leveling the score in the second with a single from Ashlyn Lerma.
Salzman put the Lady Buffs back on top when she launched her second homer of the game into left to make it 5-3. The Northridge, Calif. product has now registered eight multi-home run games in her career.
Diana Murtha kept the momentum in the fourth when she drove a 1-0 pitch deep and out over left center.
Brittni Rufus doubled into left for her third hit of the day before the Rambelles intentionally walked Salzman to put runners on first and second. The duo advanced 60-feet on a passed ball to move into scoring position with Murtha at the plate. The junior smoked her second homer of the to push the Lady Buffs lead out to five, 8-3.
The lead was short lived as ASU scored a pair of runs before Madison Fernandez sent her fifth homer of the season out into left to bring the game within one, but
Gabriella Valforte's double added a couple of insurance runs to lead the Lady Buffs to game two.
Rufus led at the plate going 3-for-4 while Salzman and Murtha each registered a pair of hits as they combined for seven RBI.
Halle Lytal (2-1) was rewarded the victory after entering the game in the fifth allowing one earned run while
Emma Parrish earned her third save of the season. Torrey Hogan (7-2) was credited the loss allowing 10 runs (nine earned) with seven strikeouts, three walks and three wild pitches.
