Buffs Roll Past Cameron on Tuesday Night, 104-64

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M junior guard Julius Brown posted his 1,000th-career point on Tuesday night as the Buffs defeated the Cameron Aggies, 104-44, during Lone Star Conference crossover action.
 
Brown, who scored 669 points at Lincoln Memorial, led the way offensively with 18 points as he collected his 333rd point in the Maroon & White to combine for 1,002 points in his collegiate career.   The Westerville, Ohio product shot 7-of-16 from the floor including 3-of-7 from the deep and 1-of-1 at the free throw line to go along with seven assists.  Larry Wise and Hayden Blankley also reached double-figures with 16 each while Dalin Williams grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. 
 
The Aggies hung around in the opening 12 minutes of play as they held the Buffs from takingany substantial lead.  At the 2:56 mark, Dalin Williams knocked down both free throws to push their lead out to 13 but Cameron brought the score back within single digits with shots by Colt Savage.  Toussaint knocked down a jumper but was responded with a layup from Connor Slater to make it 49-38 at the half. 
 
WT came out with new energy as they together a 10-2 run as Wise's jumper pushed the Buffs lead out to 23.  Alejandro Gonzalez lost control of the ball for Hayden Blankley to pick up the steal before finding Cameron Bell who lobbed a pass up to the board for Addison Wallace to slam down.  
 
At the 6:29 mark, Brown pulled up to the arc and dropped his third 3-pointer of the game to join the 1,000 club.  With less than two minutes left in the half, freshman Jonas Carlisle drained his own three to give the Buffs a 41-point lead, their largest of the night.  
 
The Buffs finished the night going 41-of-72 (56.9%) from the floor including 12-of-31 (38.7%) from deep and 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the free throw line to go along with 35 rebounds, 18 assists, nine turnovers, 12 steals, three turnovers and three blocks.
 
Cameron was led by Connor Slater who went 7-of-15 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line for 18 points. The Aggies finished the game going 23-of-50 (46.0%) from the field including 3-of-16 (18.8%) from behind the arc and 15-of-19 (78.9%) from the charity stripe with 27 rebounds, five assists, 24 turnovers, one blocks and three steals.
 
WT returns to action on Thursday night as they take on the Mustangs of Western New Mexico with tipoff set for 8:30 p.m. CT in Silver City, N.M.
