Wise Leads West Texas A&M to Road Victory Over Western New Mexico

SILVER CITY, N.M. – West Texas A&M's Larry Wise posted his seventh 20-point game of the season as West Texas A&M completed the season series sweep over Western New Mexico with an 82-56 victory in Silver City, N.M.  The Buffs improve to 23-6 on the season and 9-5 in Lone Star Conference play while the Mustangs move to 9-11 (3-8 LSC). 
 
The Buffs jumped out to an early 11-4 lead as Dalin Williams grabbed a defensive rebound before Julius Brown posted his fourth point at the first media timeout of the game at 17:21. Cameron Bell made an impact off the bench making a 3-pointer to push the lead to double digits. 
 
WT would see its lead extended to 20 after Larry Wise added to his scoring after making a shot from beyond the arc to lead 33-13.  The Buffs would keep their momentum as the collected a 12-3 run until the Mustangs snapped the run with a jumper by Jordan Doss before senior connected on a triple to bring the score to 45-26 at the half. 
 
Wise dropped a three to open the half before the Buffs scored six straight points over the opening six minutes of play to take control of the game.  Hayden Blankley dropped five points including a fastbreak dunk on a pass from Julius Brown
 
Kavon Booker would finish the scoring for the Buffs with a layup off an offensive rebound from Jonas Carlisle with less then five seconds remaining to secure the Buffs 12th victory over the Mustangs. 
 
Wise scored 20 points for WT after going 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-9 from the 3-point line to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, one block and a steal.  Toussaint went for 18 points with Brown chipping in 14 and Blankley with 12. 
 
WT finishes the regular season next week at the friendly confines of the First United Bank Center when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Feb. 24 and Texas A&M International on Feb. 26.
