No. 24 Buffs Defeat Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, 86-66

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M men's basketball recorded ninth consecutive victory over Eastern New Mexico as the No. 24 Buffs won 86-66 on Saturday afternoon at the First United Bank Center.  Wd moves to 21-6 overall and 7-5 in Lone Star Conference play while the Greyhounds drop to 6-15 (2-10 LSC) on the season.  Head coach Tom Brown improves to 14-1 against Eastern New Mexico. 
 
WT shot 30-of-68 (44.1%) from the field, 11-of-32 (34.4%) from three-point range and 15-of-24 (62.5%) from the free throw line with 34 rebounds, 15 assists, 12 turnovers, 16 steals, and three blocks.   
 
Four Buffs reached double figures led by Julius Brown who posted his sixth 20-point game.  The junior shot 7-of-17 from the floor, 3-of-8 from the deep and 3-of-4 at the line for 20 points to go along with four rebounds, five assists and game-high four steals.  Zach Toussaint also reached double digits with 16 points followed by Larry Wise and Jesse Iweze with 15 and 10 while Dalin Williams grabbed eight rebounds. 
 
The Buffs opened scoring at the 17:56 mark with a jumper from Brown before Yosnier Cobas layup gave ENMU its only lead of the night until the WT collected a 17-0 run to take control of the game.  Wise knocked down a shot from the long range to push the lead out to 21, 36-15.  
 
With less 1:30 left in the half, Jesse Iweze dropped the hammer with his 17th dunk of the season before Addison Wallace picked up the steal to lob a toss over to Zach Toussaint.  The Johnsburg, Ill. native drained his first 3-pointer of the night to give WT a 31-point lead.  
 
The Greyhounds finished the day shooting 46.3% (25-of-54) from the floor including 23.1% (3-of-13) from the deep and 13-of-15 (86.7%) at the charity stripe to go along with 33 rebounds, 28 turnovers, 10 assists, four blocks and four steals.  Jared Perry led ENMU with 16 points while Kevin Nza Mba brought down a game-high nine rebounds.
 
WT returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 12, for Lone Star Conference crossover action as they host Cameron (4-14, 2-9 LSC) at the FUBC.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Canyon.
