CANYON, Texas – The #5 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M closed out 2022 in style on Friday night as they shot 51% from the field and forced 21 turnovers on their way to a 86-71 Lone Star Conference West Division victory over the Midwestern State Mustangs at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

Zamorye Roberts led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the senior from Portales went 4-of-6 from the floor including 2-of-4 from deep and 3-of-4 from the free throw line for a team-high 13 points to go along with two rebounds, five assists and one steal.

Kyla Kane (11) all finished in double-figures for the Lady Buffs.

The Lady Buffs finished the night going 25-of-49 (51%) from the floor including 12-of-23 (52.2%) from deep and 24-of-29 (82.8%) from the free throw line to go along with 30 rebounds (eight offensive, 22 defensive), 15 assists, 22 turnovers, four blocks and nine steals.

Dyamon Griggs led the way for the Mustangs as the freshman from Waco went 9-of-15 from the floor including 8-of-10 from the free throw line for a game-high 26 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals. MSU finished the night going 27-of-57 (47.4%) from the floor including 5-of-11 (45.5%) from deep and 12-of-20 (60%) from the stripe to go along with 28 rebounds (11 offensive, 17 defensive), 10 assists, 21 turnovers, three blocks and 12 steals.

The Lady Buffs return to action on New Year's Day as they welcome the Cameron Aggies to the First United Bank Center for Lone Star Conference action with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m.
