Motschenbacher Sends the #6 Lady Buffs Home Unbeaten, 59-53

CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs overcame a 14-point first half deficit on Sunday afternoon as they picked up a thrilling 59-53 victory over the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers to conclude the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. 
 
Karley Motschenbacher led the way for the Lady Buffs as the sophomore guard finished the afternoon going 9-of-14 from the floor including 1-of-1 from behind the arc and 2-of-3 from the free throw line for a game-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals. Zamorye Roberts finished in double-figures as well as the senior went 3-of-8 from the field for 10 points with four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
 
The Lady Buffs went 25-of-61 (41%) from the field including 3-of-14 (21.4%) from deep and 6-of-10 (60%) from the charity stripe with 45 rebounds (13 offensive, 32 defensive), nine assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
 
The Lopers were led by Klaire Kirsch who went 4-of-9 from the floor including 2-of-4 from behind the arc and 2-of-3 from the free throw line for a team-high 12 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. UNK finished the game going 20-of-57 (35.1%) from the floor including 4-of-21 (19%) from deep and 9-of-14 (64.3%) from the stripe with 32 rebounds (eight offensive, 24 defensive), 13 assists, 10 turnovers, five blocks and two steals.
 
The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend to take part in a regional crossover event in Rapid City, South Dakota as they take on Colorado Mesa (Nov. 11) and South Dakota Mines (Nov. 12) at the King Center.
