CANYON, Texas – For the first time in since 2014, the No. 11 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M were crowned the Lone Star Conference Regular Season Champions on Friday night after defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville in four sets to clinch the program's 20
th title.

The Numbers
TAMUK led off with a first set victory but the Lady Buffs came back to win three straight to claim the conference title. The two schools were evenly matched on the court in nearly every statistical aspect with both program's recording 59 kills and 55 assists. WT hit .237 on the night with 23 errors on 152 attempts while the Javelinas hit .241 with 21 errors on 158 attempts. WT collected 72 digs, seven blocks and six service aces. TAMUK had 59 digs, 11 blocks and two aces.
Junior
Torrey Miller had a match-high 18 kills in the victory, hitting .304 on 46 swings with four errors to go alone with 16 digs for her 43
rd career double-double.
Kayla Elliott also reached double digit kills with 12 and a team-high .455 hitting percentage while sophomores
Blair Moreland and Ainsley Malis guided the offense, combing 50 assists. On defense, three Lady Buffs reached double figure digs led by Bryli Contreras with 18 followed by Miller and
Abi Nash with 10. Senior
Kayla Elliott totaled five blocks on the night followed by
Samantha Jordan and
Ashlyn Vinyard each with two.
For the Javelinas, Madelyn Wallace hit .353 to lead the offense with 17 kills on 34 attempts with five errors while Sydney Whitmore had a match-high 30 assists. Like the Lady Buffs, three players recorded double figure digs with Nicole Murff with a team-high 16 followed by Jackie Alanis Meghan Stiefer each with 13 while Kailey Estrada produced a match-high six blocks on the night.
The Milestones
- WT is 15-0 in Lone Star Conference play for the first time since 2014 where the Lady Buffs finished with a perfect 16-0 to claim the regular season title, first under Kendra Potts
- The Lady Buffs extend their wins streak out to three over the Javelinas, leading the all-time series 55-13 and 3-0 under head coach Kendra Potts
- Miller picked up the squad's 15th double-double of the season, her eighth on the year

As the regular season champion, WT will host the Lone Star Conference Tournament with the quarterfinal matches set for Nov. 10, followed by the semifinals on Nov. 11 and championship match on Nov. 12.
