LAREDO, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team fell to Texas A&M International in their final game of the regular season on Friday. The Lady Buffs end the regular season with an overall record of 12-2-4 and 6-2-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
The match opened with Texas A&M International acting as the early aggressors, registering the game's first shot in the second minute. Following the off-target attempt by the Dustdevils, the Lady Buffs started to attack up the field.
Reagan Matacale placed a shot on goal for WT, but watched her attempt go into the arms of TAMIU goalkeeper Fabiana Solano. Less than 10 minutes later,

Asha James for the Lady Buffs' first goal of the game. WT held on to the one-goal lead through the remainder of the half, outshooting the Dustdevils 9-3 in the opening period.
After the second half kickoff, the Lady Buffs pressed down the field as
Nicole Gray found a shot 26 seconds into the half. After WT was forced to 10 players, TAMIU took advantage of the situation as the Dustdevils scored in the 58
th minute.
Ashley Silvestre attempted to gain some offensive momentum for the Lady Buffs, but her shot couldn't find the back of the net. In the 71
st minute, TAMIU pushed up the field and scored to take a 2-1 lead. With less than five minutes to play, the Dustdevils added another goal to push their advantage to 3-1. WT attempted a comeback in the final minutes but came up short.
The Lady Buffs turn their sights to the Lone Star Conference tournament which starts on Tuesday, November 1.
