No. 11 West Texas A&M Defeats Western New Mexico in Three Straight on Friday

SILVER CITY, N.M. – West Texas A&M ended the road journey of the regular season on a high note as the No. 11 Lady Buffs defeated Western New Mexico in three straight sets to extend their win streak out to 15.

The Numbers
WT hit .276 on Friday night with 39 kills on 98 attempts with 12 errors to go along with 56 digs, 37 assists, eight blocks and six aces. The Lady Buffs limited to Mustangs to hit -.019, the lowest of the season, with 23 kills on 108 swings with 25 errors, 44 digs, 22 assists and four blocks. 
 
Freshman Emma Becker led the Lady Buffs offense for the third time this season with seven kills on 16 swings with just one error. While Ashlyn Vinyard and Angelina Oliver each had six. Blair Moreland led the night with a match-high 17 assists while Bryli Contreras and Abi Nash combined for 21 digs.  Oliver had a season-high five blocks including three solo to lead at the net.  
 
Mustangs' Augustine Bria had a match-high 10 kills while Madelynn Culp had 13 assists. Eliana Moultrie led the back row with 13 digs with Carley Deck collecting two blocks.  

The Milestones
  • WT is off to a 14-0 LSC start for the first time since 2014
  • Lady Buffs recorded the 16th sweep of the season; WT has only lost 12 sets on the year
  • Head coach Kendra Potts moves to 80-20 (.780) overall and 51-10 (.833) in LSC action
  • WT leads the all-time series 18-3 with a seven game win streak

The Lady Buffs will close the regular-season at home when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville (Nov. 4) and Texas A&M International (Nov. 5).  WT will honor five Lady Buff seniors Samantha Jordan, Katrina Johnson, Abi Nash, Kayla Elliott and Lindsey Bullard on Friday night against the Javelinas.  First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box."
