Williams, Wallace Lift #8 West Texas A&M over the Falcons

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M returned to the win column on Saturday evening as the No. 8 Buffs bounced back to defeat UT Permian Basin 85-55 at the First United Bank Center.  The Buffs, now 17-3 overall, moved to 4-2 in Lone Star Conference action with head coach Tom Brown earning his 198th career victory.  UTPB moved to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in conference.  
 
Dalin Williams became just the second Buff this season to register a double-double as the 6-foot-9 guard posted 10 points with a season-high 11 rebounds. Addison Wallace led the offense with a season-high 17 points to go along with three rebounds while Jesse Iweze and Larry Wise each reached 11 points. 
 
The Buffs started off slow in the opening five minutes of play with the Falcons taking a quick lead before Wallace knocked down seven consecutive points to push the Buffs ahead, 13-11.  DaJuan Jones' posted two for the Falcons but was immediately responded with a 20-3 run to make it 35-16 at the intermission. 
 
UTPB's Miles Daniels drove up the lane for two to lead off the second half Zach Toussaint lobbed a pass to Jesse Iweze for the dunk to set the tone.  The freshman from Roanoke, Texas followed up with a shot in the paint to make it a 21-point game, 41-20.  With four minutes left of regulation, Williams drew the foul to head to the charity stripe knocking down both free throws to extend the Buffs lead out to 34, their largest of the night. 
 
The Buffs shot 32-of-62 (51.6%) from the floor, 5-of-19 (26.3% from the deep, and 16-of-19 (84.2%) at the free throw line while collecting 45 rebounds, 13 assists, five steals, and two blocks. 
 
WT will continue LSC play on the road as they set out to Wichita Falls on Thursday, Jan. 27 to take on Midwestern State before heading to DBU (Jan. 29) and Cameron (Feb. 3).  The Buffs will return to Canyon on Thursday, Feb. 10, to host a rematch with the No. 1 Lubbock Christian Chaps at the First United Bank Center.
