COMMERCE, Texas. – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M bounced back on Saturday afternoon as they swept Texas A&M-Commerce 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-20) at the TAMUC Fieldhouse to end a two-game lose streak. WT moves to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in Lone Star Conference play while the Lions fall to 1-5 (0-2 LSC).
WT exploded in the first set with a 20-9 lead with the Lions unable to string together a successful run giving the Lady Buffs a 25-16 first set victory. The Lady Buffs kept their stride in the final two sets to record their fourth three-set win of the season.
As a team, the Lady Buffs hit .295 with 44 kills on 122 attempts with just eight attack errors.
Torrey Miller registered her sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 16 kills and 10 assists.
Blair Moreland and
Sadie Snay combined for 36 assists while each recording two service aces to lead WT. Newcomer
Abi Nash compiled a career-high 18 digs followed by
Chandler Vogel with 14.
Maddie Rashford led TAMUC's offense with 11 kills while Celeste Vela registered 31 assists. Three Lions recorded double-digit digs led by Riley Davidson with 17. TAMUC ended the match with 37 kills on 135 swings with 16 errors to hit .156.
Next up for the Lady Buffs is a home matchup with UT Permian Basin on Friday, Sept. 24 set for 6 p.m. followed by an afternoon match with Western New Mexico on Saturday at 2 p.m.
