TYLER, Texas – West Texas A&M volleyball came out swinging in the Lone Star Conference opener on Friday night but came up short falling to No. 25 UT Tyler in four sets (25-27, 23-25, 25-16, 15-25).  The Lady Buffs moved to 6-2 (0-1 LSC) on the season and 1-2 against UTT while the Patriots advanced to 5-0 (1-0 LSC). 
 
WT and UTT went neck and neck in an opening set that saw 12 lead changes before the Lady Buffs broke away with a 20-17 lead.  The Patriots collected a 10-5 run to take set one followed by a second set victory to make it 2-0. 
 
The Lady Buffs hit .471 in the third set with 16 kills on 34 swings with no attack errors to take the third frame bringing the match score within one.  Momentum shifted in favor of the Patriots who used a 12-3 run to take the conference opener. 
 
Three players from WT's roster recorded double-digit kills led by Torrey Miller with 15 on 45 swings with 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.  Kayla Elliott had a team-high .522 attack-percentage and three service aces while Blair Moreland paced the offense with a season-high 28 assists.  
 
Chandler Vogel led the backrow with 20 digs and moved into second on WT's all-time digs list passing Sara Contreras (2005-08) with 2,258.  WT hit .250 to finish the night with 52 kills on 140 swings with 17 attack errors. 
 
The Lady Buffs look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they take on Texas A&M-Commerce with first serve set for 1 p.m. at TAMUC Field house.
