DALLAS, Texas - West Texas A&M saw their spring season come to an end on Saturday evening with a 4-1 loss to No. 1 DBU in the Lone Star Conference Semifinals at Patriot Field in Dallas. The Lady Buffs finish the season with a record of 6-4-0 after making their sixth straight appearance in the LSC Tournament.
WT saw themselves down three goals in the opening 14 minutes as Delaney Schmidt, Marit Auee and Ashley Merrill all found the back of the net for the Patriots. The Lady Buffs registered their first shot of the game in the 17th minute with Alex Jurado forcing a save from Adrianna Schroeder.
The Lady Buffs find a little more possession in the final five minutes of the first half with Jessica Diaz and Asha James putting shots wide of the goal.
Jurado would force another Schroeder save in the 52nd minute before the Patriots made it 4-0 two minutes on Schmidt's second goal of the game. Hannah Kelley-Lusk scored her ninth of the season in the 61st minute to cut the lead to 4-1.
Kelley-Lusk had a team-high three shots as the Lady Buffs were outshot 17-14. Heelan made three saves in 60 minutes of action with Daniela Estrada also making three saves off the bench.
