CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M opened their home slate with a dominate performance at the WT Invitational as they outscored opponents 38-5 on Saturday.
WT moves to 6-0 as after defeating UC-Colorado Springs 19-0 before a ending the day with a 19-5 victory over Colorado School of Mines.

The Lady Buffs scored early and often as they tallied 19 runs on 15 hits against the Mountain Lions to take game one of the WT Invitational.
Shanna McBroom led off the game with a single to center before
Ruby Salzman added her first hit of the day to put runners in scoring position. A groundout for
Alyx Cordell scored McBroom from third before freshman
Gabriella Valforte hit her third career homerun, putting the Lady Buffs ahead 3-0.
McBroom recorded an RBI single after an error by the shortstop landed
Madison Johnson on base to push WT's lead. With two outs, Salzman launched a shot deep and over into left center to double the Lady Buff's lead in the second. Three more runs would cross the plate as Salzman recorded her 28
th career homerun to make it 9-0. In the bottom of the fourth, UCCS' Meghan Waidler broke
Emilee Wilson's no-hitter to record the Mountain Lions lone hit of the game.
WT would add 10 more runs in the top of the fifth before holding the Mountain Lions to secure a 19-0 victory. Salzman led at the plate for the Lady Buffs as the centerfielder tallied five hits with seven RBI while McBroom followed with three hits.
Wilson earned her first victory of the season as the sophomore allowed just one hit in four complete innings with four strikeouts while freshman
Josey Nichols threw one inning to record her first collegiate strikeout. Mountain Lions' Braelyne Crenshaw was credited the loss after allowing nine runs (seven earned) on eight hits.

The Lady Buffs kept their bats alive as they tallied another 19 runs on 16 hits against the Orediggers. After a 1-2-3 inning on three strikeouts, WT took control of the game as they added three runs to the board on doubles by
Sydney Greeson and
Gabriella Valforte. In the second,
Shanna McBroom sent one off the centerfield wall for an RBI triple before scoring on a single by
Ruby Salzman. Four runs would cross the plate for the Lady Buffs to make it 9-0.
A sacrifice fly to center for Clara Larson would put Mines on the board but was immediately responded with back-to-back solo homeruns by
Ruby Salzman and Greeson. The Lady Buffs kept the momentum as they tagged on seven runs to make it 19-1 in favor of WT.
The Orediggers would not go down without a fight as they brought four runs across the plate but a ground out would end the threat, sealing the Lady Buffs sixth straight win.
Kyra Lair (4-0) was rewarded the victory after allowing one run (one earned) on three hits with six strikeouts while Kayleigh Krueger (0-1) was credited the loss with eight runs (eight earned) on one inning.
