SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 25 Lady Buffs dropped their third match of the season after falling to the No. 6 Rambelles of Angelo State, 3-0 (21-25, 23-25, 14-25), on Friday night at the Junell Center.
ASU moved to second in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 20-3 overall record while tying No. 16 UT Tyler with a 13-1 conference mark. West Texas A&M drops to third in the standings at 12-2 in conference and 18-3 this season while the Lady Buffs continue to lead the all-time series with the Rambelles, 59-28.
The Rambelles limited WT to its lowest attack-percentage of the year at .077 with 36 kills on 142 attempts with 25 errors. ASU racked up 53 kills against the Lady Buffs on 141 swings to hit .170.
Sophomore
Torrey Miller led with nine kills on 43 attempts with five errors while
Samantha Jordan,
Kayla Elliott and
Camy Jones each with five.
Sadie Snay paced the Lady Buffs offense with 16-of-34 assists followed by
Blair Moreland with nine. On defense,
Chandler Vogel led the back row with a match-high 22 digs while Jones and
Marjani Stanfill each had three assisted blocks.
Elsa Lamphere had a match-high 10 kills on 31 attacks with just three errors followed by Delaney Fuller with nine. Baleigh Allen led at the net with six total blocks as she collected two service aces while Kaitlyn Gilbreath had 18 assists. Fuller led the back row with 19 digs.
The Lady Buffs look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they face Lubbock Christian with first serve set for 2 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
