OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Hannah Kelley-Lusk's second half goal lifted the Lady Buffs to a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian in a Lone Star Conference matchup on Wednesday night at the Eagle Soccer Field. WT finishes with a 5-2 record on the road while improving to 12-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play. Oklahoma Christian falls to 4-7-4 with a 4-4-4 mark in LSC play.
Despite WT tallying four shots in the opening seven minutes, the Lady Buffs was unable to get the go ahead in the first half. The Lady Buffs put pressure on the Eagles in the 16
th-minute with back-to-back shots by
Alexsis Villareal and Reagan Matacle but each were denied by keeper Gabby Goddard.
The Lady Buffs continued to put pressure on OC's defense with a shot by
Asha James but was denied by Gabby Goddard. In the 63
rd-minute, WT finally jumped on the board with Kelley-Lusk's 53
rd career goal. The National Player of the Week defeated the keeper in the penalty area after completing a beautifully-placed pass from Matacale.
Daniela Estrada made her only save of the match in the 67
th-minute on a shot from the Eagles' Caprice King.
The Lady Buffs had a 13-8 shot-advantage against the Eagles led Kelley-Lusk who registered a match-high five shots followed by
Asha James with four. Estrada had one save while picking up her fourth career shutout.
