Two Record Hat Tricks in Lady Buffs 10-0 Blowout Over the Dustdevils on Senior Day

CANYON, Texas – Two Lady Buffs registered hat tricks on Saturday morning as West Texas A&M defeated Texas A&M International, 10-0, at The Pitch on Senior Day.  The Lady Buffs finish the regular season at 13-5-0 and 9-4-0 in Lone Star Conference play. 
 
After 24 minutes of scoreless action, Asha James found senior Hannah Kelley-Lusk after WT was awarded its second corner to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Buffs tripled their lead in just seven minutes with Maliyah Mendoza's first brace of the season.  
 
Senior Cheyenne Orozco scored her first collegiate goal in the 36th minute after connecting with a pass from Emily Avila.  Less than five minutes later, Asha James collected her first score of the match before Kelley-Lusk added another to the board to make it 6-0 at the half. 
 
Mendoza was the first player to record to register a third goal as the junior collected her first collegiate hat trick in the 49th-minute. After completing a pass from Jessica Diaz, Kelley-Lusk recorded her 56th-career score for her third hat trick of the season.  With her final score of the match, the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week set a new program record with 25 goals in a single season passing former Lady Buff Sarit Shenar's record. 
 
Junior Kahrena Thompson joined in on the blowout as the Johnstown, Colo. product registered her first career score for the Maroon and White. Asha James finished the scoring in the 80th-minute after connecting with a pass from Kelley-Lusk for the Lady Buffs first double-figure scoring match of the season. 
 
Senior keeper Daniela Estrada played all 90 minutes between the post for WT with four saves to earn her third career shutout.  The Bogota, Colombia native moved to 4-1-0 on the season. 
 
The Lady Buffs compiled a season-high 40 shots led by Kelley-Lusk who finished with four shots and a team-high seven points followed by Mendoza with six.   
 
The Lady Buffs earned the fourth seed for the LSC Tournament and will host No. 5-seed St. Mary's on Tuesday, Nov. 9 with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at The Pitch in Canyon. The Rattlers finished the regular-season with a 7-4-2 record in conference play after defeating Lubbock Christian, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
