CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head softball coach
Michael Mook announced the addition of five Lady Buffs to the 2022 signing class with Lauren Granger, Emilee Boyer, Heaven Moreno, Gabi McConnell, and Ruby Moore.
Lauren Granger
Catcher | Minnetoka, Minn. | Hopkins High School
Lauren Granger comes to Canyon from Hopkins High School in Minnetoka, Minn. where she plays behind the plate as a catcher and in the outfield under Lions head coach Carl Yancy. Granger and the Lions claimed the 2020 Lake Conference Championship title in her junior campaign while earning All-Conference accolades. She is the daughter of Sarah and Greg Granger and has two siblings, Noah and James. Granger plans to major in animal sciences during her time at West Texas A&M.
Emilee Boyer
Right-Handed Pitcher | Harrisburg, S.D. | Harrisburg High School
Emilee Boyer is currently a senior at Harrisburg High School in South Dakota where she plays pitches for the Tigers under head coach Toby Bryant. Boyer helped the Tigers to their ESD 'A' Conference Championship victory in her senior campaign where they went on to a runner-up finish at the South Dakota State 'A' Championships. Boyer currently holds six program records including 19 wins in a single season. She is the daughter of Jen and Rob Boyer and has two siblings, Nolan and Cade. She plans to study general studies as an undecided major at West Texas A&M.
Heaven Moreno
Infield | Amarillo, Texas | Randall High School
Heaven Moreno is finishing her senior campaign at the nearby Randall High School where she plays as a utility under Raiders head coach Mallory Hale. In junior season, she collected defensive most valuable player honors while she was named the 5A Utility Player of the Year and Second Team All-District. Moreno is the daughter of Alfredo and Angelina Moreno and has two siblings, Lazai and Julia. She plans to major in nursing at West Texas A&M.
Gabie McConnell
Utility | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Lincoln High School
Gabie McConnell is currently a senior at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. where she plays in the infield under Patriots head coach Tim Hoover. McConnell and the Patriots just completed the season 25-3 as they claimed the State Championship title. McConnell was named to the All-State team and currently holds the programs stolen base record. She is the daughter of Mark and Sharon McConnell and has two siblings, Natalle and Sam. McConnell plans to study health sciences at West Texas A&M.
Ruby Moore
Utility | Maple, Wisc. | Northwestern High School
Ruby Moore comes to Texas from Northwestern High School in Wisconsin where she plays as a shortstop for the Tigers under head coach Scott Janigo. During Moore's junior season, she hit .663 as she collected 55 hits with 18 RBI and 43 stolen bases to earn All-Conference and All-State recognition. She is the daughter of Sara and Russell Moore and has one sibling, August. Moore plans to major in education at West Texas A&M while she gets a minor in accounting.
