SAN ANTONIO, Texas – For just the first time this season, West Texas A&M saw the fifth set after coming back to defeat St. Mary's on Friday night (24-26, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-13) to extend their win streak to 14 over the Rattlers. Lady Buffs now lead the all-time series 21-2 and improved to 11-2 (5-1 LSC) on the season while the Rattlers dropped to 8-6 (2-5 LSC)
After back-and-forth action, St. Mary's broke away with 22-19 lead before claiming the opening set. The Rattlers took the second to lead the match 2-0 until the Lady Buffs ended the run with 25-18 third set victory behind WT's 5-0 final run. With the set tied at 23-23,
Kayla Elliott recorded the kill before an attack error by the Rattlers leveled the match, 2-2.
The Lady Buffs strung together a successful 11-1 run to lead off the fifth set before StMU put pressure on WT to bring the score within two. Kills by

Abi Nash recorded her eighth kill of the night to secure the comeback victory.
Torrey Miller continued to lead the offensive side of the net as the sophomore registered a career-high 28 kills on 68 swings with five attack errors to hit .412 followed by
Kayla Elliott (15) and
Abi Nash (8). Freshman
Blair Moreland paced the offense with 33 assists to go along with 13 digs for her first collegiate double-double while Nash collected a season-high 24 digs followed by
Chandler Vogel (23). WT hit .236 on the night with 68 kills on 199 attempts with 21 errors along with 65 assists, six service aces, 105 digs and 12 blocks.
St. Mary's hit .171 with 66 kills on 210 swings with 30 errors led by Alissa Tolbert. The senior collected 28 kills on 73 swings followed by Julia Aleman with 14. Cali Nims had 33 assists for the Rattlers while Gabi Sandoval and Tolbert each had 24 digs.
The Lady Buffs will continue their road trip with a match on Saturday afternoon against St. Edward's (9-5, 4-3 LSC) in Austin. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Recreation and Athletics Center.
