Kelley-Lusk’s Hat Trick Powers No. 21 Lady Buffs Past Lubbock Christian

CANYON, Texas – No. 21 West Texas A&M ended its three-game home stand on Wednesday evening with a commanding 4-0 victory over previously Lubbock Christian. WT improves to 7-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in Lone Star Conference following the third win all-time against the Lady Chaps.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk recorded her second hat trick in three games on six shots while Emily Avila recorded a game-high shots, one less than LCU. Reagan Heelan picked up the win with two saves in 76:31 minutes.

The Lady Buffs went up 1-0 in the fifth minute on Kelley-Lusk's 10th goal of the season. After seeing her first shot attempt blocked, the senior striker recovered the ball before beating the keeper at the near post making her one of three players in program history to reach 100 career points.

Alex Jurado would double WT's lead in the ninth minute after they were awarded a penalty when Kelley-Lusk was taken down in the penalty area. She sent the LCU's Hannah Wise the wrong way as she deposited the ball in the left side for her first career goal.

LCU started the second half with more urgency but that was short lived as Kelley-Lusk made it a 3-0 game in the 48thminute. Asha James set the goal up for her second assist of the season and fifth of her career.

Kelley-Lusk would finish the hat trick in the 65th minute beating the Wise to the far post after a miscue from the Lady Chap backline gave her a one-on-one with the keeper.

The Lady Buffs hit the road for the first time in more than two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 9, with a trip to UT Tyler. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
