Kelley-Lusk’s Second Half Brace Lifts Lady Buffs over Rattlers, 2-0

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hannah Kelley-Lusk scored twice in the second half as West Texas A&M picked up a 2-0 victory over St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. The Lady Buffs improved to 11-5-0 overall and 7-4-0 in Lone Star Conference play following their straight win in the all-time series against StMU.

The Lady Buffs outshoot the Rattlers 11-4 in the opening 45 minutes but were unable to find the back as it was 0-0 at half. The second half was a different story as Kelley-Lusk scored her 20th of the season in the 52nd minute on a strike to the top corner. She found space in the defense after recovering a 50/50 ball to become the second player in program history to score over 20 goals in a single season.

She would double the lead in the 59th minute after benefitting off a mistake from the goalkeeper. The keeper was unable to hold onto the long pass from the midfield which resulted in Kelley-Lusk slotting the ball into an empty net.

Daniela Estrada picked up the shutout as the defense only allowed one shot on-goal on seven shots.

The Lady Buffs finish the road portion of their regular season schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 3, against Oklahoma Christian. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
