Five Second Half Goals Lead #25 Buffs to Fly Past the Falcons

CANYON, Texas – For the first time since 2018, West Texas A&M put six on the board after the No. 25 Buffaloes defeated the UT Permian Basin Falcons 6-3 at The Pitch on Wednesday night.  The Buffs moved to 11-3-0 (4-2 LSC) on the season while UTPB dropped 2-11-2 as WT continues to lead the all-time series 21-0-2.

Despite WT's 9-5 shot advantage in the first half, UT Permian opened scoring in the 14th-minute with their 15thgoal of the season with a shot from Victor Radilla.

The Buffs broke through the Falcons defense when Stefan Andjelic converted the penalty for the third time in his career.  The senior drew the foul in the penalty area before he fired his seventh goal of the season past the UTPB's Alfonso Aragon until the Falcons doubled their score to lead 2-1 at the half.

WT would score the first of their five second half goals in the 52nd-minute as Denis Herrera leveled the match after completing a well-placed pass from Rotem Weiss. Tanner Clements registered his first career goal to give the Buffs their first lead of the match at 3-2.

Weiss recorded his own score after finding the back of the net in the 84th-minute but was responded by the Falcons after UTPB's Gustavo Barroso converted the penalty.

In the final minute of the match, WT finished the scoring as Weiss got on the end of Beau Johnson's before Andjelic registered his first brace of the season to end the Buffs second half stampede.

The Buffs posted 22 shots to UTPB's 12 led by Weiss with six and Andjelic with four.  Weiss' eight points (2 goals, 3 assists) are the most this season surpassing teammate Giancarlo Saldana's five against Northeastern State earlier this season.  Tom Miles was awarded the victory to move to 10-1-0 with two saves.

WT will head to Oklahoma for their final road trip of the regular-season with a matchup against Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 3.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. against the Eagles.
