Palomino Launches #15 Buffs to Victory Over DBU in Overtime Thriller

DALLAS, Texas. – The 15th-ranked West Texas A&M men's soccer team battled its way to a 2-1 overtime victory against DBU as freshman Chris Palomino sent home the golden goal in the 103rd-minute.

Saturday's victory advanced WT's win streak to 14 against the Patriots with the Buffs leading the all-time series 14-0 while lifting them to 10-3-0 (3-2-0 LSC) as the Patriots dropped to 4-5-0 (1-2-0 LSC).

WT attacked early as Palomino launched the first strike from 20-yards out in the 2nd-minute after Anthony Perea stole the ball away from DBU's defender at midfield until the Patriots leveled the field at 1-all.

Stefan Andjelic opened the second half with his sixth goal of the season as the Ottawa, Ontario native completed a pass from Rotem Weiss.  DBU's Peyton Voelker doubled the Patriots score in the 61st-minute to even the score for the second time in the match.

The Patriots went down a man in the 79th-minute but the Buffs were unable to capitalize on the red card to head into overtime.  Neither team could advance on any chances in the first overtime with WT registering the only two shots until a well-placed pass from Weiss found Palomino outside the penalty area.

The Houston product fired his third career goal to the back-right corner of the net to hand WT their third overtime victory of the season.

The Buffs totaled 13 shots on the night landing seven on frame with Palomino recording a season-high five while Weiss was credited with two assists.  Tom Miles moved to 9-1-0 with two stops at the net for WT.

With just three matches left of the regular season, the Buffs will return home on October 27 to host UT Permian Basin (2-10-2, 1-3 LSC).  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday night against the Falcons.
