No. 25 Lady Buffs Take Down Mustangs on Friday in Straight Sets

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The No. 25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M extended their match win streak to nine after sweeping the Midwestern State Mustangs on Friday night (25-14, 25-12, 25-18) at the D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas.  WT now holds an overall record of 15-2 and 9-1 within the LSC. 
 
WT wasted no time in Friday's match as the Lady Buffs led off the first set with an 8-1 run to set the tone for the rest of the match.  The Lady Buffs hit .277 as a team with 43 kills on 101 attempts with seven total blocks and 52 digs.  
 
Freshman Camy Jones led the Lady Buffs with nine kills on 17 swings to hit .353 followed by Torrey Miller and Abi Nash with eight each.  Mere Nagase paced WT's offense as the Oakland, Calif. product registered her second career double-double with a career-high 18 assists and 10 digs.  At the net, Marjani Stanfill brought down five blocks while Chandler Vogel collected 13 digs in the back row.  With tonight's digs, Vogel is now 14 away from breaking the all-time digs record with a career mark at 2,409.
 
Taylor Anderson recorded a team-high eight kills for the Mustangs offense that saw only 21 kills as the Lady Buffs limited MSU to hit -.019 while Regan Willms dished out 11 assists.  Anderson and Kaitlyn Masseth combined for four blocks with Amy DeWalt picking up 10 digs.
 
WT will next head to Lawton, Okla. for a matchup with Cameron (1-22, 0-11 LSC) on Saturday at the Aggie Gym with first serve set for 4 p.m.
