No. 19 West Texas A&M Fall 2-1 to Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – No. 19 West Texas A&M was unable to overcome a two-goal first half deficit in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Angelo State in San Angelo. With the loss, WT drops to 8-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in Lone Star Conference play.

WT could only must one shot on-goal before going down 1-0 in the 34th minute on a goal from ASU's Valerie Solis. It was 2-0 just six minutes later when substitute Breanna Bittick found the back of the net.

The Lady Buffs would get a goal back in the final minute of the first half on Emily Avila's sixth goal of the season. The junior played a one-two with Kyndahl Britton before beating the keeper at the near post with an absolute laser from 20 yards out.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk had her best chance of the game in the 74th minute after nice pass from Asha James but she was unable to put in goal following pressure from a Rambelle defender.

Avila came within inches of tying the game in the 89th minute but her free kick was tipped out of bounds for a corner kick by Kira Miller.

The Lady Buffs return home to the friendly confines of The Pitch on Saturday, Oct. 16, to host Texas Woman's. Kickoff is set for Noon.
