Spurgin’s Big Afternoon Powers the #21 Lady Buffs Past Texas A&M International

LAREDO, Texas – The #21 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to 10 games on Saturday afternoon as junior Abby Spurgin tied a career-high with 25 points in a 74-54 Lone Star Conference crossover victory in Laredo, Texas over the Texas A&M International Dustdevils at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led by Abby Spurgin who went 7-of-11 from the floor and 11-of-12 from the free throw line for a game-high 25 points to go along with four rebounds, three blocks and two assists. Tiana Parker registered a double-double for the second straight contest with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Delaney Nix went 5-of-14 from behind the arc for 15 points.
- Texas A&M International was led by Nicole Heyn who went 7-of-12 from the field including 3-of-3 from behind the arc and 4-of-4 from the free throw line to finish the afternoon with 21 points, Jaden Gonzales chipped in 14 points as she went 4-of-8 from deep while Patrycja Jaworska led the way defensively with four steals to go along with three rebounds and four assists.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 14-of-25 (56%) from the floor including 5-of-10 (50%) from behind the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line with 16 rebounds (seven offensive, nine defensive), 12 assists, 11 turnovers, 12 assists and two blocks.
- TAMIU went 8-of-18 (44.4%) from the field in the first half including 4-of-6 (66.7%) from deep and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from the charity stripe with five rebounds (two offensive, three defensive), six assists, 13 turnovers, five steals and no blocks.
 
SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 25-of-48 (52.1%) from the field including 7-of-18 (38.9%) from deep and 17-of-23 (73.9%) from the charity stripe with 32 rebounds (13 offensive, 19 defensive), 21 assists, 24 turnovers, eight steals and eight blocks.
