LAREDO, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ended their South Texas road trip in style on Saturday afternoon as they swept past the Texas A&M International Dustdevils (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) to run WT's win streak to six straight games during Lone Star Conference action at the Kinesiology and Convocation Building in Laredo, Texas.
Lindsey Smith led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs with 13 kills on 25 swings with no attack errors to hit an impressive .520 on the afternoon followed by
Torrey Miller with 11 kills with 15 digs for a double-double,
Gabby Emery paced the WT offense with 37 assists to go along with 12 digs for a double-double while
Chandler Vogel led the way on the back row with 24 digs. WT finished the afternoon with 46 kills on 119 swings with 15 attack errors to hit .261 with 43 assists, six aces, 73 digs and one block in the win.
TAMIU was led by Mackenzie Catalina with a match-high 14 kills on 38 swings with four attack errors to hit .263 on the afternoon followed by Annie Deininger with eight kills, Maison Kosse dished out 24 assists to go along with 11 digs for a double-double while Hannah Semon registered 18 digs in the loss. The Dustdevils finished with 32 kills on 126 attempts with 15 attack errors to hit .135 with 30 assists, five service aces, 56 digs and seven total blocks.
The Lady Buffs return to the friendly confines of the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" next weekend for their final two regular-season home matches of the season as they welcome #23 Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday night followed by a matchup with UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day in Canyon.
