CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hosted playoff volleyball for the first time in five years on Tuesday night, sending a season-large crowd of over 750 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" home happy with a sweep over the rival Mustangs of Midwestern State during the opening round of the 2019 Lone Star Conference Championship.

Selena Batiste led the way for the Lady Buffs in her final match at The Box with 12 kills on 28 swings with five attack errors to hit .250 on the night followed by
Torrey Miller with nine kills,
Gabby Emery dished out 19 assists while
Chandler Vogel led all players with 21 digs in the back row. WT finished the night with 43 kills on 118 swings with 21 attack errors to hit .186 with 39 assists, five aces, 65 digs and five total blocks in the win.Â

The Mustangs were led by Rockelle Gholson with eight kills on 32 attempts with five attack errors to hit just .094 on the night followed by Lauren Honeycutt with seven kills, Sarah Glawe paced the MSU offense with 15 assists to go along with seven digs while Gholson led the way with 13 digs for the double-double. The Stangs finished the match with 31 kills on 121 swings with 16 attack errors to hit .124 as a team with 28 assists, no service aces, 51 digs and eight blocks in the loss.

The Lady Buffs advance to the quarterfinal round of the Lone Star Conference Championship on Thursday night as they take on the fourth-seeded Tarleton Texans with first serve set for 5 p.m. at the TAMUC Fieldhouse in Commerce, Texas. WT topped the Texans in four sets back on October 22
nd in Stephenville.
