Lenz Drops 23 as the #12 Lady Buffs Battle Back in the Home Opener, 62-60

CANYON, Texas – The #12 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M trailed by 11 points heading into the final quarter of play on Saturday night during the home opener at the First United Bank Center before Sienna Lenz took over with 11 points in the final period for the 62-60 victory over the East Central Tigers in front of over 800 fans in Canyon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Sienna Lenz with her best game of the season as she went 4-of-9 from the floor including 3-of-5 from deep and 12-of-16 from the free throw line for a game-high 23 points followed by Delaney Nix with nine, Tiana Parker was a force on the defensive end of the floor for the Lady Buffs as the senior grabbed six rebounds to go along with seven blocks in the win.
- The Tigers had four players in double-figures as they were led by Maci Hanson and Sam Schwab with 11 points each, Kendall Schulte led all players with seven rebounds to go along with eight points while Madison Nickens and Hannah Ladd added 10 points each in the loss.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 7-of-23 (30.4%) from the floor including 3-of-12 (25%) from deep and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line with 22 rebounds (seven offensive, 15 defensive), five assists, eight turnovers, six blocks and no steals.
- ECU went 8-of-30 (26.7%) from the field in the first half including 3-of-11 (27.3%) from behind the arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe with 14 rebounds (five offensive, nine defensive), four assists, one turnover, one block and four steals.
 
SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 16-of-41 (39%) from the field including 8-of-21 (38.1%) from behind the arc and 22-of-30 (73.3%) from the charity stripe with 32 rebounds (eight offensive, 24 defensive), 11 assists, 14 turnovers, nine blocks and two steals on the night.
- The Tigers went 19-of-54 (35.2%) from the floor in the game including 9-of-24 (37.5%) from deep and 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the free throw line with 28 rebounds (eight offensive, 20 defensive), 11 assists, seven turnovers, one block and five steals in the loss.
