ODESSA, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ended the regular season on a high note on Saturday afternoon as they had four different players in double-digit kills as WT picked up a four-set Lone Star Conference victory over the UT Permian Basin Falcons (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23) at the Falcon Dome in Odessa, Texas.
Selena Batiste led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs with 15 kills followed by
Torrey Miller (14),
Sadie Snay (12) and
Samantha Jordan (11) with double-digit kills, Snay dished out 42 assists to go along with 12 digs for the triple-double while
Chandler Vogel led the way defensively for the Lady Buffs with 24 digs. WT finished the match with 60 kills on 163 swings with 22 attack errors to hit .233 as a team with 47 assists, three aces, 92 digs and nine total blocks in the win.
The Falcons were led by Travana Matthews with 17 kills on 33 swings with just two attack errors to hit .455 on the afternoon followed by Isela Murillo with 13 kills, Analise Lucio dished out a team-high 26 assists with 11 digs for the double-double while Erika Lozano led the way on the back row with 20 digs. UTPB finished the afternoon with 55 kills on 179 attempts with 24 attack errors to hit .173 as a team with 51 assists, five service aces, 75 digs and eight blocks in the loss.
The Lady Buffs have clinched a spot in the 2019 Lone Star Conference Championship beginning on Tuesday night with the Opening Round, the complete schedule will be released on Sunday morning by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
The LSC Postseason Tournament will utilize a 12-team bracket with the top four teams in each of the three divisions qualifying, and seeding of the top 12 teams based on Rating Percentage Index (RPI) of all Division II matches. Divisional champions will be seeded as the top 3 teams, then seeds 4-12 regardless of division with first round games hosted on-campus (Tuesday, November 19).
