#12 Lady Buffs Fall to Cal Poly Pomona in the Season Opener, 73-58

ORANGE, California – Sophomore Braylyn Dollar registered her second career double-double on Friday afternoon but it wasn't enough as the #12 Lady Buffs fell to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos in the 2019-20 season opener, 73-58 during the opening day of the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, California.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Braylyn Dollar who went 4-of-9 from the floor including 1-of-2 from behind the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe for a career-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds for her second career double-double. Tiana Parker registered 13 points and six boards in her first action in almost a year while Megan Gamble dished out five assists.
- Kasey Smit had a great afternoon for the Broncos as she went 7-of-12 from the field including 3-of-6 from deep and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe for 18 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals in the victory.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 12-of-29 (41.3%) from the floor including 2-of-7 (28.6%) from deep to go along with 20 rebounds (seven offensive, 13 defensive), six assists, 14 turnovers, three blocks and no steals.
- Pomona went 12-of-29 (41.4%) from the field in the opening half including 2-of-7 (28.6%) from behind the arc to go along with 15 rebounds (three offensive, 12 defensive), four assists, nine turnovers, one block and three steals.
 
SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 19-of-55 (34.5%) from the floor including 6-of-22 (27.3%) from behind the arc and 14-of-23 (64.7%) from the free throw line with 43 rebounds (16 offensive, 27 defensive), 14 assists, 24 turnovers, four blocks and one steal on the afternoon.
- The Broncos went 27-of-64 (42.2%) from the field including 10-of-22 (45.5%) from deep and 9-of-12 (75%) from the charity stripe with 32 rebounds (nine offensive, 23 defensive), 12 assists, 13 turnovers, three blocks and five steals in the win.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs look to rebound tomorrow afternoon with a Top-25 showdown against the top-ranked Drury Lady Panthers with tipoff set for 12:45 p.m. CT at Santiago Canyon College. The Lady Panthers topped Simon Fraser 78-60 earlier in the afternoon in their season opener.
