HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite the chilly weather, the Buffs came out with a spark as they recorded the three shots in just under the first five minutes of the match including sophomore Kenny Brown's attempt in the first minute but would go off the right woodwork.  MSU's chance to take the lead came in the 14th minute as Ross Fitzpatrick went to strike for the Mustangs by was denied by the Buff's defense. WT's best chance in the half came in 16th minute with a shot by Stefan Andjelic but was saved by MSU's keeper Taylor Lampe.

After an even first half, the Buffs continued to put pressure on the Mustangs defense as Lampe put on a performance for MSU when the junior recorded seven saves between the pipes.  With less than two minutes left in regulation, redshirt-freshman Sean Ryan completed a pass from Roberto Gonzalez at the front of the net to grab the deciding goal for the Buffs to walk away with a 1-0 victory at home.

"I'm very proud of the players and the way they executed the game tonight, the coaches and the preparation that went into it," said 29th-year head coach Butch Lauffer.  "I thought the team, overall, executed really to perfection.  In fairness I thought the base on the run of play and the chances we created was a fair result."

Ten WT players recorded shots against MSU led by Brown with six, two of them on target, while Beau Johnson registered three of his own as the Buffs outshot the Mustangs 22-7.  Colin Burgiel picked up his fourth win of the season to move to a 4-0-1 record.
