CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's soccer opened its 2018 season at home on Saturday evening against Colorado State-Pueblo in front of 189 fans at the Pitch. Following an hour-long weather delay, the Lady Buffs allowed two second goals in the 2-0 loss.
"I think that we played well at moments tonight," head coach Chad Webb said. "We needed to capitalize on our chances in front of goal when we had the momentum and we didn't. We need to regroup and turn our attention to a good Colorado-Colorado Springs team coming to town on Monday."

Marlene van Mourik provided the Lady Buffs best chance in the 56th minute on a fre ekick but Makenzie Taylor was unable to put the rebound on goal. van Mourik would force another Martin save four minutes on another free kick. Hannah Kelley-Lusk finally got past the ThunderWolves defense in the 72nd minute on a long ball from the backline but her shot narrowly missed the target.
The ThunderWolves took the lead in the 81st minute on Laikyn Koss' goal off a rebound before adding another a minute later on a wonder strike from Michelle Moure. WT struggled to create any chances as they dropped a home opener for the first time since 2013.
