TAOS, New Mexico – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M fell behind early but battles back to open up the 2018 campaign with a 1-1 tie against the #21 Mavericks on Colorado Mesa on Thursday afternoon at Eco Park in Taos, New Mexico.

The Mavericks got on the board first in the 28th minute as James McGhee headed in a ball from Kevin Del Mazo for the early 1-0 lead.
 
The first half saw the Mavericks take five shots with three of them on goal while the Buffs only took one shot in the period.
 
Callum Challinor tied the match in the 75th minute as the senior finished a pass from Alex Ramirez to make it 1–1. 
 
The Buffs finishes regulation with seven shots with one of them falling on goal, the Mavs entered overtime with eight shots (four on goal). Sophomore goalkeeper Alexander Vencel registered three saves in the match.
