Parker’s Double-Double Lifts the #21 Lady Buffs to the South Central Regional Finals

LUBBOCK, Texas – The #21 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M used 39 combined points from Madison Parker and Tiana Parker along with 38 total rebounds including 13 by the senior from Canyon to outlast the Roadrunners of Metro State and advance to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Finals with a 70-60 victory in the Semifinals on Saturday night at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- West Texas A&M was led offensively by Madison Parker who went 7-of-14 from the floor including 7-of-10 from the free throw line to lead all players with 23 points to go along with 13 rebounds for a double-double while Tiana Parker chipped in 17 points in the win.
- J'Nae Squires-Horton went 6-of-14 from the floor including 6-of-12 from behind the arc to lead the way for the Roadrunners with 18 points followed by Jaelyn Smith and Georgia Ohrdorg with 12 points each.
 
FIRST HALF:

- The Lady Buffs went 13-of-26 (50%) from the floor in the first half including 1-of-4 (25%) from deep and 6-of-8 (75%) from behind the arc with 18 rebounds (four offensive, 14 defensive), nine assists, seven turnovers, one block and two steals.
- Metro State finished the first half going 12-of-31 (38.7%) from the field including 4-of-12 (33.3%) from behind the arc without attempting a free throw to go along with 14 rebounds (four offensive, 10 defensive), five assists, five turnovers, three blocks and three steals.

SECOND HALF:
- WT finished the game going 25-of-49 (51%) from the field including 1-of-8 (12.5%) from behind the arc and 19-of-25 (76%) from the charity stripe with 38 total rebounds (nine offensive, 29 defensive), 13 assists, 13 turnovers, three blocks and two steals.
- The Roadrunner went 23-of-63 (36.5%) from the floor including 6-of-21 (28.6%) from deep and 8-of-10 (80%) from the free throw line with 26 rebounds (10 offensive, 16 defensive), 11 assists, seven turnovers, three blocks and four steals in the loss.

The Lady Buffs advance to Monday night's South Central Regional Title Game to face the top seeded and #2 Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian with tipoff set for 7 p.m. CT at the Rip Griffen Center in Lubbock, Texas. LCU trailed Angelo State by four points with under a minute to play in Saturday's semifinal before coming away with a 61-59 win. The Lady Chaps enter Monday's title game riding a 49th game win streak, placing the nation's longest active home win streak into the top-10 all-time in NCAA Division II.
 
120 reserved chairback seats behind the WT bench have been released to the WT Athletic Department and those will go on sale on Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the WTAMU Ticket Office inside of the First United Bank Center.
