#19 Lady Buffs Drop Heartbreaker to Eastern New Mexico in LSC Semifinal

CANYON, Texas – The #19 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M recorded 24 shots but came away empty handed as they lost to fifth-seeded Eastern New Mexico 1-0 in overtime in their Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championship Semifinal on Friday night in front of 456 fans at The Pitch.

The Lady Buffs had arguably their best chance of the game in the 2nd minute when Calista Cordero found a wide open Jessica Diaz in front of goal but ENMU's Taylor Jackson recovered to make the save. Diaz came close to scoring again in the 16th with her shot from distance with but it dinged off the crossbar.

Khadidra Debesette had another chance for the home team in the 30th minute when she was left alone in the penalty area but her header was saved by the keeper. Khaline Jacob had her first two chances of the game in the closing minutes of the second half but both shots were blocked in front of goal.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk came within inches of scoring the opener in the 84th minute but her header went off the cross and rolled in front of goal but her rebound was blocked as well. The sophomore striker had one more opportunity in the 87th minute but the shot went over the crossbar. ENMU scored on their first chance of the first overtime with Anahi Hernandez  finding Julia Tucker on the back post for the game-winner in the 93rd minute.

Courtney Dippel finished with four saves while Kelley-Lusk had a game-high seven shots with Dra Debesette recording six of her own.
