Costly Turnovers Doom #2 West Texas A&M in San Angelo, 68-51

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The #2 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M committed 26 turnovers on Thursday night as they suffered their first loss of the 2018 season to the rival Belles of Angelo State, 68-51 in front of over 400 fans at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas during Lone Star Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- West Texas A&M was led offensively by Lexy Hightower who went 3-of-11 from the floor including 1-of-4 from deep with nine points followed by Madison Parker with eight and Deleyah Harris with seven, Cece Wooten grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while Hightower dished out four assists.
- Keanna Kelly and De'Anira Moore led the way for the Belles with 15 points each followed by Marquita Daniels with 14 and Dezirae Hampton with 11, Hampton led all players with eight rebounds on the night while Kelly dished out five assists in the win.
 
FIRST HALF:
- The Lady Buffs went 9-of-22 (40.9%) from the floor in the first half including 2-of-4 (50%) from deep and 2-of-4 (50%) from the free throw line with 22 rebounds (four offensive, 18 defensive), eight assists, 18 turnovers, two blocks and four steals.
- Angelo State finished the first half going 8-of-33 (24.2%) from the floor including 1-of-5 (20%) from behind the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe with 17 rebounds (seven offensive, 10 defensive), six assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and seven steals.
 
SECOND HALF:
- WT finished the game going 19-of-52 (36.5%) from the floor including 7-of-12 (58.3%) from behind the arc and 6-of-8 (75%) from the free throw line with 39 rebounds (12 offensive, 27 defensive), 16 assists, 26 turnovers, four blocks and four steals.
- Angelo State went 25-of-66 (37.9%) from the field including 6-of-16 (37.5%) from deep and 12-of-15 (80%) from the charity stripe with 37 rebounds (15 offensive, 22 defensive), 14 assists, 13 turnovers, six blocks and 12 steals in the win.
