Chavlovich’s Historic Night Isn’t Enough as WT Falls on the Road to #25 UT Permian Basin, 77-73

ODESSA, Texas – West Texas A&M junior guard David Chavlovich became the program's all-time leading scorer on Saturday afternoon but it wasn't enough as the Buffs fell to the #25 Falcons of UT Permian Basin, 77-73 inside of the Falcon Dome in Lone Star Conference action in Odessa, Texas. The Buffs fall to 19-6 (7-5 LSC) on the season while the Falcons improve to 18-4 (9-3 LSC) overall.
 
Chavlovich became WT's all-time leading scorer on a long ball with 19:10 on the clock in the second half for his 13th point of the game and his 1,567th career point in 83 games over the last three season in Maroon & White to average an incredible 19.1 points per game. Chavlovich passed former WT standout Martin Lattibeaudiere (1993-97 | 1,566 points).
 
The Buffs went 21-of-61 (34.4%) from the field including 12-of-37 (32.4%) from long range and 19-of-29 (65.5%) from the free throw line with 30 rebounds (11 offensive, 19 defensive), 12 assists, 13 turnovers, two blocks and nine steals. Chavlovich went 10-of-24 from the floor and 6-of-15 from deep to lead the Buffs with 28 points followed by Jordan Evans with 15.
 
The Falcons were led by Daeshon Francis who went 10-of-16 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line with 25 points followed by James McPherson (16) and Johnnie Lacy (12) in double figures while Sammy Allen grabbed 12 rebounds. UTPB went 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the floor including 5-of-17 (29.4%) from deep and 30-of-34 (88.2%) from the free throw line with 42 rebounds (nine offensive, 33 defensive), eight assists, 25 turnovers, two steals and five blocks.
 
The Buffs return to action on Thursday night as they host the Aggies of Cameron with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
