LAS VEGAS, N.M. – West Texas A&M broke open a scoreless game in the fifth with three runs and scored in every inning the rest of the way for a 21-2 win at New Mexico Highlands Saturday afternoon.  A total of 13 different Buffaloes had hits in the game and six had multi-hit games as WT banged out 22 hits in the game.

WT (2-0) was led individually by a four for six game from junior Adam Adkins as he scored twice and drove in four runs in the game. Junior Bodie Bryan went three for six with three runs scored and three RBI, while four other Buffaloes had two hits each as the team had ten multi-base hits in the game with five home runs by five different players.

On the bump, junior transfer Matt Littrell went the first four innings, allowing four hits, while walking one and fanning one. Sophomore Dominic Yearego pitched two innings earning the win (1-0) and junior Ryan Larison pitched the final three innings.

The Buffs began the fifth with a single from senior Chad Brown and a hit batsman put two on, followed by an error to load the bases. Junior Jimmy Cubillos singled home the first run and Adkins plated two runs with a triple to right center for a 3-0 lead. In the sixth, WT added three more runs as sophomore Christian Loya belted a three-run home run to left center and a 6-0 lead.

WT plated eight runs in the seventh as senior Troy LaBrie doubled home a run, while Brown belted a two RBI double and Bryan also had a RBI double to highlight the frame as 12 batters came to the plate in the inning for the Buffs.

In the eighth, WT added six more runs with a junior Nelson Paredes double for a RBI, while Bryan belted a home run, followed by a dinger from junior Cody Sanchez and a long ball from Adkins for back-to-back-to-back jacks.Â

NMHU got on the board with a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Buffs came back with another run in the ninth on a RBI double from redshirt freshman Darius Carter and a 21-1 lead. The Cowboys plated a run in the bottom of the ninth for a 21-2 score.
