CANYON, Texas – The #4 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M tossed three shutouts and hit four homeruns as they picked up wins over Fort Lewis and Washburn (twice) during Day 1 of the WT Invitational at Schaeffer Park in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buffs move to 8-0 on the season.

The Lady Buffs conclude the 2017 WT Invitational tomorrow as they take on Chadron State (Noon), Missouri Southern (4 p.m.) and Fort Hays State (6 p.m.) at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. Fans are encouraged to show up early to WT's first contest as the Lady Buffs will honor

Shanna McBroom led off the home half of the firsts with a bunt single followed by a
Kourtney Coveney single down the right field line,
Allie Smith doubled to center field to score McBroom before
Shea Ibrahim crushed a three run shot to center field for the 4-0 lead headed to the second inning.

Allie Smith doubled off of the black monster in left in the 2
nd followed by an Ibrahim RBI triple to the right center field gap to run the lead to 5-0, Ibrahim made a heads up play as the senior captain scored from third base on a popup in foul territory as the Lady Buffs took a 6-0 lead into the fourth inning. Ibrahim finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate to conclude the contest just a double shy of the cycle.

Halbert picked up the win (3-0) for the Lady Buffs, giving up no runs on three hits with two walk and three strikeouts in the complete game shutout.

McBroom registered a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first inning followed two batters later by a catcher's interference, a passed ball moved runners into scoring positon before Ibrahim drove in a run with a single up the middle followed two batters later by a
Hunter Ervin bases clearing double to the left center field gap for the 4-0 lead.

Washburn looked to cut into the lead with a leadoff walk and a double off of the right field wall before
Alexis Alfonso forced a grounder to
Kylee Moore at first followed by a strikeout and a popup in foul territory to end the inning. WT added to their lead in the second as
Ashley Hardin doubled home a run with no outs before an illegal pitch to score a run and an Ibrahim two run blast off the scoreboard at 8-0.

McBroom started off the scoring in the home half of the first inning as the freshman connected on a leadoff solo bomb on top of the black monster in left for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning as
Brittany Cruz doubled to left center field with two outs to score Moore as WT took a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the fourth with a Smith two-run double down the left field line with one out to knock WU's starter from the game and run the WT lead to 4-0. WT used the long ball again in the bottom of the fourth inning as Coveney crushed a ball into the Buff Corral in left center for a three-run shot followed by a
Maddie Green RBI single to center for the 9-0 lead.
