SILVER CITY, N.M. – Behind all 11 players scoring, the West Texas A&M women's basketball team posted a 72-52 win at Western New Mexico Saturday afternoon. With the win, WT improved to 15-6 overall and 8-4 in Lone Star Conference play, while WNMU fell to 4-15 overall and 0-12 in league play.

For the game, WT shot 54.7 percent on 29 of 53 from the field, including a blistering 16 of 25 in the second half for 64 percent. WT was five of 14 from beyond the arc and nine of 11 from the line. The Lady Buffs pulled down 37 rebounds for the game, winning the battle of the boards 37-23. Freshman Lexy Hightower led two Lady Buffs in double figures with 12 points on four of six from the field with two triples and two free throws. Senior Maddison Wild added ten points, while junior Cece Wooten had a career-high 11 rebounds off the bench.

WNMU had a game-high 19 points from Jade Botelho on nine of 23 from the field as the lone Mustang in double figures. The Mustangs shot 24 of 63 from the field for 38.1 percent and were four of 15 from beyond the arc. WNMU didn't attempt a free throw in the game.Â

The Lady Buffs led the entire way through the first half as they led by as many as 17 in the second quarter at 35-18 on a jumper from Hightower for her seventh point of the half as she was three of five from the field with a triple.Â

WNMU pulled within 26-18 on a jumper from Keshuan Clark with 3:35 left in the half, but the Lady Buffs used a 9-0 run and a 9-2 finish to the half for a 35-20 lead at intermission. WT led 19-10 through the first period and shot 13 of 28 from the field for the half for 46.4 percent. The Lady Buffs were three of ten from beyond the arc and six of eight from the line. WT held a 24-13 lead in rebounding.

Wild had eight points in the first half to lead the team, while Wooten recorded a WT-best eight rebounds in the first half. WT held an 18-12 lead in points in the paint and 11-4 in second chance points.Â

WNMU had a game-high 12 points from Botelho on six of 15 from the field, as the Mustangs were 10 of 34 from the field for 29.4 percent. The Mustangs missed all five triples and did not attempt a free throw in the half.Â

The Lady Buffs poured it on in the third quarter and built as many a 26-point lead late in the quarter at 51-37 on the "and one" from senior Bailey Thiel.Â

WNMU cut the deficit back to 17 with a 7-0 run to start the fourth and a triple from Botelho. WT continued the pressure as redshirt freshman Amanda Bell, sophomore Taylor LaCour each saw significant minutes in the final stanza and scored four points each. Thiel had nine points in the game.

The Lady Buffs have a short turnaround as they finish the five-game road trip at UT Permian Basin Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. from the Falcon Dome in Odessa, Texas.Â
