With the win, the Buffs improved to 20-12 overall and 12-8 in Lone Star Conference play, while Cameron fell to 14-16 overall and 8-11 in league play.
The Buffs began the second inning with a double to left center from junior
Josh Day. Senior
Justin Hargrove reached on an error as Day scored unearned for a 1-0 lead. WT then plated six runs on five hits in the third inning all with two out. Following a single by junior
Trace Hansen, a walk and a balk followed loading the bases. A passed ball scored the first run, followed by two RBI single up the middle from senior
Dylan Dyson for a 4-0 lead and a pair of RBI singles made the score 6-0. The second miscue of the inning led to the seventh run as senior
Ryan March singled and reached third plating the run.
Cameron stranded two in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth before getting on the board in the fifth as Russ Colgan doubled to left and scored on a Jonathan Reyes single to right for a 7-1 score. The Aggies then scored their second run in the sixth as a miscue by WT allowed Matt Nilmeyer to reach base and a double play scored him for a 7-2 score.
The Aggies had a chance in the seventh, leaving two stranded and one in the eighth. Junior
Kyle Tinius pitched three innings in relief allowing three hits with three strikeouts, while sophomore
Eliot King pitched a perfect ninth in his second appearance of the season with one strikeout.
For the game, the Buffs scored seven runs on nine hits with one error, while Cameron had two runs on eight hits with two errors. Day went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a double, while Dyson was 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI along with a double as was senior
Johnny Gaines.

Kyle Olason went five innings improving to 3-2 on the year, allowing two runs – one earned on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
With the win, WT remains in second place in the league standings with a 12-8 record. Texas A&M-Kingsville, who leads the league with a 13-6 record, lost three of four at Tarleton State this weekend. The Buffs hold a 1.5 game lead over Angelo State who also lost three of four at Eastern New Mexico. The Rams now are 10-9 in league play.
Texas A&M-Kingsville visits the Buffs to begin the back half of conference play Apr. 3-4 at Wilder Park in Canyon. The game Friday is set for 7 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. TAMUK won the series in Kingsville earlier this season, taking three of four games.
