Lady Buffs Fall to #25 Angelo State in the LSC Quarterfinals to End the 2015 Season

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs started slow and never responded as they fell to the rival #25 Belles of Angelo State in straight sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) to end their 2015 season on Thursday afternoon in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals at Wisdom Gym South in Stephenville, Texas. The Lady Buffs end the season at 16-17 while the Belles advance to tomorrow semifinal round against Texas Woman's with a 29-5 record.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Courtnee Curl with eight kills on 20 swings with just two attack errors to hit .300 on the afternoon followed by Lexi Davis and Cori Haley with six kills each, Jackson guided the WT offense with 19 assists to go along with 14 digs for the double-double. The Lady Buffs hit just .157 as a team with 28 kills on 102 swings with 12 attack errors to go along with 26 assists, one ace, 48 digs and four total blocks.
 
Angelo State was led by Blauser with 22 kills on 40 swings with two attack errors to hit .500 on the afternoon while Sotello registered 12 kills in the match, Keffury dished out a match high 45 assists in the match while MacLeay led the Belles with 13 digs. Angelo State hit .315 as a team with 54 kills on 124 swings with 15 attack errors to go along with 49 assists, four service aces, 55 digs and three blocks in the match.
 
WT says goodbye to its lone senior Lexi Davis who completes a great four-year career in Maroon and White. The Dumas, Texas native finishes her career with 839 kills on 1,827 swings to hit an amazing .322 to go along with 391 total blocks that ranks her ninth in program history.
 
The Lady Buffs end their season at 16-17 overall to mark the first time in 28 years that they have finished a season without a winning record to snap the third longest active streak in Division II Volleyball. The streak that dated back to 1987 trailed just the University of Tampa and Central Missouri with 34, both of those teams are regionally ranked and will extend their impressive streaks to 35 seasons.
