Tai Phetluangsy makes the move from the diamond to the dugout as the former WT standout joins the Buffalo coaching staff for the 2027 campaign.
Phetluangsy played his final collegiate season at Tarleton State Universty in 2026, seeing time in 26 games for the Texans out of the bullpen. He tossed 34.2 innings with a 3.12 ERA, striking out 33 batters. Tai tossed a scoreless inning in relief at the University of Texas on March 17th in a 6-1 victory, he also allowed one hits and zero runs in an NCAA Regional Tournament Game against UC Santa Barbara.
Phetluangsy made 37 appearances on the mound for the Buffaloes during his two seasons in Canyon in 2024-25. He tossed 63.1 innings with 57 strikeouts, claiming five victories along with nine saves which ranks tied for sixth in program history. He finished 19 games during his two-year career in Maroon & White highlighted by eight saves during the 2025 season.
The Amarillo product graduated from Tascosa High School in 2021, making playing stops at Odessa College and Panola College before transferring to WT.
