Genevieve Hopkinson

Genevieve Hopkinson joined the West Texas A&M volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2025.

Hopkinson came to Canyon after serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater, McCook Community College. During the 2024 season, she helped lead the Lady Indians to a 21-13 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Region IX Tournament in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

As a student-athlete at MCC, Hopkinson was named team captain for the 2021 season and earned the program's “Chief of the Year” award, an honor given to the player who demonstrates exceptional dedication and passion for the game. In her sophomore year, she was selected as the Holly Myers Female Teammate of the Year, recognizing her as the top female teammate among all MCC student-athletes. She also served as the 2021 commencement speaker for the college.

Following her time at MCC, she continued her collegiate volleyball career at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri, where she played for three seasons and recorded 571 career digs. She graduated in December 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Education Studies and a minor in Business Administration.

Hopkinson went on to earn her Master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership from Western Governors University, graduating in the spring of 2025.

Her coaching experience includes working with club teams of various age groups. While in Marshall, she coached 12U and 16U teams and interned with the Missouri Valley athletic department. Upon returning to McCook, she led the Wauneta-Palisade 14–18U team in spring 2024 and coached an 18U travel team for the McCook Zephyrs Club in spring 2025.

In addition to her role as Assistant Volleyball Coach at MCC, Hopkinson also served as the full-time Assistant Director of Residence Life, overseeing all on-campus housing operations.

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Hopkinson is one of eight siblings and later moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, where she attended high school
