Biography

2019 (Senior):
Starkey finished her four-year career on a high note earning First Team All-Lone Star Conference and D2CCA First Team All-Region honors. At the plate, the Denton, Texas native hit .354 with nine doubles, five triples and six home runs to drive in 34 runs for a .611 slugging percentage with 29 walks for an on-base percentage of .463. She recorded 33 putouts and 39 assists with one error for a fielding percentage of .986.
 
In the circle, she appeared in 30 games with 21 starts as she finished 16-6. She had a 4.04 ERA allowing 99 runs (84 earned) on 183 hits with 72 walks in 145 2/3 innings and an opposing batting average of .303. 

2018 (Junior):
Starkey earned All-American honors for the Lady Buffs during her junior campaign in 2018 as the Denton native earned Honorable Mention accolades by D2CCA while earning All-Region and First Team All-LSC honors. Starkey hit .400 on the season in 52 contests with 12 doubles, four triples and five homeruns to drive in 38 RBI with 95 total bases for a slugging percentage of .633. She registered 24 walks to tie for second on the team with an on-base clip of .483 while tallying 30 putouts and 26 assists with just two errors for a fielding percentage of .966.

Starkey was dominant in the circle for the Lady Buffs in 2018, seeing time in 22 contests with 16 starts as she finished the year 14-3 overall. She tallied a 2.58 ERA with a pair of shutouts and a save in 95.0 innings of work, allowing 40 runs (35 earned) on 100 hits with 64 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .272.

2017 (Sophomore):
Starkey had a standout sophomore campaign for the Lady Buffs in 2017 as the Denton Ryan product hit .352 on the year with 11 doubles, one triple and two homeruns to drive in 17 RBI with 27 total bases for a slugging percentage of .528 to go along with 19 walks for an on-base clip of .454. The talented utility player registered 97 putouts and 25 assists with just two errors for a fielding percentage of .984.

She also showed her versatility in the circle as the lefty went 6-1 for the Lady Buffs, registering a 3.14 ERA with 14 appearances and 11 starts. Starkey tallied four complete games on the season with a shutout and a save in 51.1 innings of work, striking out 20 batters and allowing an opposing batting average of .333. Starkey was named an All-Lone Star Conference Third Team selection for her efforts on the diamond.

2016 (Freshman):
Starkey registered a great true freshman campaign for the Lady Buffs in 2016 as the Denton native hit .350 with 12 doubles, three triples and a homerun to drive in 32 RBI for a slugging percentage of .484 while tallying 32 walks for an on-base clip of .464 in her 60 games started between left field and first base. She was a force in the field for the Lady Buffs as she registered a team leading 400 putouts with 17 assists and eight errors for a fielding percentage of .981.

The Guyer High School product was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Offensive Player of the Week on March 2 as she hit .667 with three doubles and a triple to drive in six RBI to go along with five walks and no strikeouts for a slugging percentage of 1.222 and an on-base clip of .786 as the then top ranked Lady Buffs swept then #20 Tarleton State, scoring seven runs in her nine at-bats of the weekend with six hits for 11 total bases. For her efforts on the field, Starkey was named to the All-Lone Star Conference Third Team.
 
At Guyer High School:
Starkey joined the Lady Buffs following a standout prep career at Denton Guyer High School (Texas) where she played first base and pitched for the Wildcats under the guidance of head coach Keith Medford and along with WT teammate Maddie Green. Starkey led Guyer deep into the Texas 6A State Playoffs as a senior and was named the District 5-4A Utility Player of the Year as a junior.

She was a four-time All-District performer while picking up District 5-4A Offensive Player of the Year acclaim as a sophomore. Starkey also excelled in the classroom, being named a four-time 1st Team Academic All-District selection for her efforts in the classroom. Starkey played her first prep season at Justin Northwest HS (Texas) before finishing her final three seasons at Denton Guyer HS (Texas).
 
Personal:
Born July 21st. Starkey is the daughter of Shane and Liz Starkey and she has five siblings: Nici, Tanner, Katie, Bella and Reagan. She is majoring in Sports & Exercise Science at West Texas A&M.
