Will Boyd

Will Boyd enters his second season as the Assistant Coach for Lady Buff Volleyball. WT made a run to the South Central Regional Quarterfinals in 2019, finished the campaign with an overall record of 22-7. 2019 marked the 27th overall appearance by the Lady Buffs in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Postseason.

During his time in Austin as a Volunteer Assistant at the University of Texas, Boyd helped guide the Longhorns to the 2018 Big 12 Conference Title as well as an Elite Eight appearance. He served as the offensive coordinator and helped with breaking down opponent tendencies and scouting reports.
 
Before coming to Texas, Boyd served as the volunteer assistant coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. In his first year with the team (2016) he helped guide the Bulldogs to a conference title and a NCAA berth.  While at Samford (2016-2018), Boyd worked extensively with DataVolley including in-game analysis. He also conducted match to match break down of opponents to implement into scouting reports for two seasons including a 2016 Southern Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Boyd also served as a practice player as well as assisted in all aspects of training, specializing with pin hitters. 
 
During Boyd's undergrad, he was the volunteer assistant at University of Alabama at Birmingham (2015-2016). He was highly involved with drill and practice management and worked extensively with setters on fundamental training and game strategy. Throughout Boyd's young coaching career he was awarded the AVCA Coaches for Coaches Scholarship Recipient in 2016. 

That spring, Boyd held the role as head coach of the Austin Skyline15 Royal club team. His Club coaching experience started out at Southern Performance Volleyball Academy where he managed every aspect of the team including implementing the practice plan, game day management and day-to-day training in the vision of Southern Performance. He led 18-1's team to a third-place finish at AAU Nationals in 2016 and assisted with 18-1's 5th place finish at AAU Nationals in 2015. At Sports Performance Volleyball Club, Boyd managed the day-to-day training of the 18's team while learning under the leadership of Troy Gilb and Rick Butler. He also worked Sports Performance Boys and Girls Camps during summer of 2015, 2016, and 2017. He also holds AAU Positive Coaching Alliance Certifications in Levels 1, 2, and 3. 
 
As a player, Boyd was a setter at the University of Benedictine in 2014. The Birmingham, Alabama native has a bachelor's degree in Bachelor of Arts in Health Promotion with a Concentration in Kinesiology from the University of Montevallo.
