Chard'e Vanzandt enters her first season on the sidelines for the Lady Buffs, being named the program's new Assistant Coach in the summer of 2026.
Vanzandt comes to Canyon following a stellar collegiate career at Blinn College, Louisiana Tech, Chattanooga and the University of Iowa. She finished her volleyball career playing professionally overseas for Aris Volleyball Club in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The Houston native played her final season of collegiate volleyball at the University of Iowa in 2025, seeing time in all 32 matches with 23 starts for the Hawkeyes. She led the team with 386 kills to go along with 125 digs, 41 blocks and 29 aces. Chard'e reached the 1,000 career kills plateau at the DI level in a sweep of Maryland (Sept. 25).Â
Vanzandt spent two seasons at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she was a First Team All-Southern Conference selection in 2024. She had 692 kills over 65 matches for the Mocs in 2023 and 2024 to go along with 21 aces, 152 digs and 171.0 blocks. Chard'e finished her career ranked sixth all-time on the program’s career attack percentage list by sitting at .288 over her two years at UTC.Â
Chard'e made 29 appearances with 17 starts at Louisiana Tech University during her sophomore season in 2022 where she finished third on the team in kills (184). Vanzandt started her collegiate career at Blinn College, leading the Buccaneers to the NJCAA Region XIV Championship with an overall record of 39-4 in 2021.
Vanzandt was a three-sport standout at Crosby High School where she earned District Most Valuable Player accolades on the track as well as on the volleyball court. She was a three-time Regiona Champion in the high jump, still holding the CHS school record in the event.
